The SMPTE17 event exceeded all expectations. The exhibition was a buzz with a new open plan that at times made the space look emptier than it really was. A highlight was the Diner and Bar located in the centre of the floor, allowing meetings to be held with a full view of the show.
Our keynote speaker this year was Michelle Rowland MP, Shadow Minister for Communication.
The conference attracted over 50 papers, with 80 participants – 75% of whom came from overseas especially to present at SMPTE17. Major themes (with feature workshops)
included High Dynamic Range video, and plant conversion from SDI to full IP delivery. Over 210 people attended the Conference Dinner, which featured Keith Scott.
After a year of planning, the event was over all too quickly, but we grabbed some pictures to trigger fond memories.
