Search on for Executive Director as Maki Resigns

The search is on for a new US-based Executive Director for the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers as a result of the resignation of Kimberly Maki who has left the organisation to take up a new corporate role within the cable telecommunications industry.
According to SMPTE President Ken Fuller, “Kimberly’s decision to leave SMPTE was multi-faceted and a difficult one.  I personally want to thank her for her dedication to SMPTE.  Kimberly has been an advocate for the advancement of the engineering profession on a strategic leadership level. She represented us well, because of her belief in the Society, our mission, and work.  She has championed many new initiatives on behalf of our organization that have made a significant difference in the industry and to SMPTE’s legacy.  Her boundless enthusiasm and energy in representing SMPTE on a global level will be missed on multiple continents.
“I have appointed a Search Committee and they have begun the task of locating potential candidates for the position. The committee, chaired by Charlie Jablonski, will be responsible for sorting through potential candidates to identify the few that will meet the needs and requirements of the position going forward. In the meantime, the staff will continue to support the membership and it is business as usual.”
In a statement to the SMPTE membership, Kimberly Maki said, “I have truly been honored with the opportunity to represent you.  The engineering and technology areas of this industry are still close to my heart – and I believe down to my core that it is YOU who makes this industry what it is today (and what it will be in the future).  You should be very  proud of your contributions and leadership to the industry!
