Audinate, the home of Dante has kindly offered to host the next Section meeting on 21 June, and will be taking you through the journey of how one man’s vision, borne through the need to simplify his connectivity issues in following his passion of music, would develop in to this cutting edge technology that has gained global acceptance.

Taronga Zoo has invested in an amazing new theatre featuring a plethora of world firsts: 5:1 screen, 5.4k resolution and a new production that will blow your socks off. SMPTE Members; come and see it at a special guild/society night with the production team who created the format. But be quick – it’s this Tuesday and you need to register by Monday morning….

Nine Network Australia (NNA) is delighted to welcome SMPTE Australia Section members and guests to a technical overview and tour of the National Playout Centre (NPC) for Nine Network.
NPC opened in 2012 and originally served 18 channels across the country. The multichannel content playout solution allowed the broadcaster to streamline technical operations by centralizing playout within a single, highly efficient and modern broadcast facility.
Mad Max Fury Road took over 15 years to progress from almost-ready to actual production. A crew of 1500 laboured in the Namibian desert for six months or more to help realise George Miller’s dream, and in the process solved one unsolvable problem after another. In a special SMPTE Section Meeting, we bring you the backstory from people who were part of that crew.
