SMPTE Australian Section, with assistance from Barco, James Gardiner (CineTechGeek and SMPTE Standards Community Member), and Blackmagic Design’s Davinci Resolve have collectively arranged to show the impact of the Rec. 2020 colour space.

If you haven’t experienced Rec. 2020 first hand, prepare to be amazed.  It’s that significant.   CIExy1931_Rec_2020.svg

Rec.2020 is part of the new Ultra HD Blu-Ray spec recently released, and content for Ultra HD must be mastered in the Rec.2020 colour volume.

This Demonstration will consist of a Davinci Resolve editing system with some sample RAW-14bit content (Thank you cameraman Mat Woods) for DOPs and colour graders to play with.  And you’re invited to to bring your own sample media – RAW or 12bit colour depth files recommended.

Exactly how Rec.2020 will enhance your pictures is an unknown.  Only by experiencing the colour volume first hand will its capabilities be understood.  This preview is a great opportunity for industry professional to get a peek at what is ahead.

Demonstration Times:

Current opening is this Friday 26 Feb between 1030 and 1530 with formal demonstrations at 1100 and 1430.  However there may be times during this week where limited numbers can be accommodated by special arrangement.   A second formal session is tentatively scheduled for Friday 4 March 1030-1230 if enough people show interest.

Positions are limited per session and the timing is short notice. Don’t miss out, RSVP quickly

We’ve been told that that Barco may have the demonstration available beyond the next few weeks due to training for engineers and others, so we’re posting this on SMPTE Australia Section website to stimulate interest.  We believe that private showings can be pre-arranged.

Interested SMPTE members, DOPs, Colour Graders, please register your interest ASAP as so we can make sure there is an opportunity for you to attend.
