Ambience Adds Pep to Pop Pups

Following the success of Ambience Entertainment and A Stark Production's animated series, The "Pop Pups", which have been screening on the ABC during 2003, the Australian National Broadcaster has purchased a further 19 episodes.
The one-minute episodes, created for pre-schoolers are based on the three balloon puppies that originally appeared on the 'ABC Kids' commercials. The new episodes will air on The ABC immediately.
"We are really delighted to have the Pop Pups again screening on the ABC, who have been strong supporters of the series since the very inception of the idea." said Avrill Stark, Producer of the series.
The "Pop Pups" follow the adventures of three cheeky little puppies as they play with their toys and interact with each other developing imaginative and funny adventures. The Puppies have a squeaky, balloon like quality and their world consists of fun, happy colours that sit outside the realm of the ordinary. Using simple stories that ignite childrens' imagination, the series, uses movement, music and sounds to portray the jolly existence of the three puppies and their friends.
"We feel that the Pop Pups appeal is global as they have been produced in such as way as to use music, movement, colour and sound to showcase their adventures without the use of any particular phonetic language" added Avrill Stark.
Ambience Entertainment's Head of 3D, Shaun Schellings was involved in the initial pitch and animation of the first nine episodes. He spent quite some time researching puppies, concentrating on the dogs movement and behavior, specifically their walk and run cycles.
"The process of animating was relatively smooth with all the scripts written in house" said Shaun. "The project was a lot of fun for the animators. The characters and story were kept simple to allow the animator to really bring the character alive."
The puppies were all animated separately with the secondary animation of the tail, nose and ears being all hand animated adding life to the final creation of these wonderful little characters.
The Pop Pups are also heading to France where they will screen on children's broadcaster TiJi which is a French channel on cable and satellite for children under 7 years olds and second lead kids' channel in terms of audience ratings for the 4-10 years olds from January 2004.
"It was such a coup for Ambience and A Stark Production to secure Tiji as a broadcaster in France as Tiji have a wonderful reputation for airing beautiful, quality
children's content" said Avrill Stark, Producer of the series.
