BUYS GMD
SYDNEY
AAV Australia Chief Executive, Ted Gregory has announced the conclusion
of successful negotiations with SMS Management & Technology Ltd
for the purchase of Sydney based visual effects and animation group,
GMD (formerly Garner McLennan Design).
"We are delighted to announce the successful acquisition of GMD,
one of Australasia's premier design groups," said Gregory. "GMD
is recognised as a local and international design force and the
company has a number of exciting projects to its credit. The breadth
of experience that is assembled within the GMD group is unparalleled
and we look forward to welcoming the talented people at GMD to the
AAV team."
According to Digital Pictures Sydney General Manager, Jeff Oliver,
who will also manage GMD's Sydney based operation, the company will
operate as an independent entity within AAV's Digital Pictures Network.
Companies currently within the Network include Digital Pictures
Sydney and Melbourne and boutique design house, Iloura Melbourne.
GMD was established in 1985 as Sydney's first dedicated design-based
visual effects and animation company. Award winning broadcast design
projects include promos, TVCs, TV series, and feature films.
According to Ted Gregory, the acquisition of GMD is the first step
in a major expansion phase for the AAV Australia Group.
