Fieldwalker Joins mesh22
mesh22 is pleased to announce the appointment of award-winning
producer, Aren Fieldwalker. Specialising in design production for
broadcast and film, Canadian-born Aren joins mesh22 from the set
of the X-Files, via GMD. Having produced many internationally-renowned,
award-winning broadcast packages, Aren’s past credits include the
Channel Nine ‘Odyssey’ and Hoyts Cinemas ‘Experience’ IDs. Lately,
he has been involved in the end sequence for director Phillip Noyce’s
feature, ‘The Quiet American’, and produced projects for the Odyssey
Channel, the Sci Fi Channel (UK) and Greater Union Cinemas.

The LaB Fires Up With O'Connell
Senior FX Artist Will O’Connell has recently moved across from
the Omnilab Group’s design, visual effects and animation division,
mesh22 to take the helm of the LaB’s state-of-the-art new Fire Suite.
The newly completed suite is very much like a theatrette, complete
with a high definition video projector and full Dolby 5.1 surround
sound system. The suite has been interior-designed with soft-lighting
and ergonomic seating, specifically for those long creative sessions.
"Discreet Fire is the premier workstation for all post production
needs," says Will. "The flexibility, speed and options it affords
are endless and being a non-compressed, non-linear editing system,
it’s designed for completing projects for cinema, TV and high-definition
TV post production. With a similar toolset to Inferno and Flame,
Fire has realtime playback of clips and effects in any format and
the ability to import OMF files from Avid and Dolby surround sound."
NTL's Bennie Returns to UK as Managing Director
UK-based NTL Broadcast has announced the appointment of Tom Bennie
as its Managing Director, reporting to Peter Douglas, chairman of
NTL Broadcast. Bennie will oversee NTL's Media Solutions and Wireless
Solutions business units, plus the operations, maintenance and projects
groups including the development of new technology and applications.
Prior to his new role, he was managing director of NTL Australia,
taking the company from start-up, following the 1999 acquisition
of the nationwide transmission network, to its successful sale in
the first quarter of 2002. He secured important new contracts for
NTL Australia, including the transmission the national roll out
of digital terrestrial television for the Australian Broadcasting
Corporation. Bennie has been with NTL since 1991 when he was first
appointed Business Development Manager.
Speaking about his return to the UK, Tom Bennie said: “NTL Broadcast
is a highly successful and profitable division and it’s my intention
to maintain our position at the forefront of the broadcast and mobile
communications markets. We’re seeing some interesting times in our
industry with the draft communications bill and the migration to
new digital technologies. Opportunities exist to cement NTL Broadcast’s
position and reputation and I’m very excited about the challenges
ahead.”
Peter Warren Joins Comsyst
Comsyst has announced the appointment of Peter Warren as Sales
Executive for the Broadcast Systems group. Peter has joined the
team as part of the ongoing development of Comsyst's broadcast systems
integration business. Peter comes to Comsyst after twelve years
with Panasonic's Broadcast Equipment distributor, Rexel, initially
in as sales representative in Western Australia, culminating as
New South Wales Sales Manager. Prior to Rexel Peter has had extensive
Television Network experience in both city and regional locations.
In his role with Comsyst, Peter will be responsible for systems
integration related to the radio and television broadcast markets
which will include the transmission, studio and production sectors
of the industry. His sales territory covers the Australasia as well
as South East Asia and the Pacific Basin.
Mesh22 Appoints New Visual Effects Director
Sydney-based Mesh22, part of the Omnilab group, has announced
that Thomas Kayser has joined its team as Visual Effects Director.
Formerly with Animal Logic, Kayser has a wealth of experience in
both film and television design and VFX and is best known for his
contribution to the design of the matrix code on The Matrix.
Other feature film credits include VFX supervisor for Alex Proyas'
Garage Days and Yahoo Serious' Mr Accident, as well as director
for the 3D opening sequence for the IMAX feature, The Changing Heart.
Television series' he has worked on include titles design for Crash
Palace, and Farscape - Series 2, which saw him working on VFX design
and direction.
Silveri Joins Coemar De Sisti
Lighting company Coemar De Sisti Australia has appointed Julian
Silveri to its warehouse operations. Silveri will be assisting with
the day to day running of the warehouse and handling the technical
side of the company's range of products. He has recently completed
his certificate IV in Entertainment studies.
New Marketing Manager For Omnilab Group
The Omnilab Group has announced the appointment of Margie Kwan
as Marketing Manager. Kwan will be responsible for co-ordinating
marketing activity across The Omnilab Group's three companies -
The Lab, mesh22 and Cornerpost - which have expanded to the level
where they now require centralised management of their various marketing
efforts.
Having spent the last year running the Marketing Department at GMD,
Margie brings to The Omnilab Group a specialist knowledge of marketing
communications and strategy.
