Kramer for Cintel HK
Cintel International has announced the appointment of David Kramer
to its Hong Kong Asia Pacific office. David will be the dedicated
engineer supporting the region.
A highly respected engineer in the industry, David graduated from
the Telecommunications Program at the Napa Valley College in May
1998 and went on to spend 2 ½ successful years with Cintel
as a Customer Support Engineer.
After a spell working as a freelance engineer at some of the top
LA facilities, David joined Matchframe Video as their Facility Engineer,
gaining further skills, experience and knowledge in additional technologies.

forward to the challenge of working in the Asia Pacific region’
said Kramer ‘it is gratifying to be working as part of such

Digby Launches Law Firm

laywer Stephen Digby has founded Digby Law, a boutique legal practice
specialising in commercial and intellectual property law predominantly
for the communications, entertainment, media and IT industries.
Prior to this, Digby spent 16 years in the UK where he was Partner
and Head of Intellectual Property at two leading London law firms,
including Davenport Lyons, one of the largest specialist media and
entertainment practices in the UK. Most recently he was senior consultant
in the Entertianment and IP/IT Groups at Sydney law firm Abbott
Tout.

Chamberlain
MD for da Vinci Asia-Pacific
After much speculation, fuelled mostly by the man himself, former
Techtel stalwart, Peter Chamberlain, has taken up the position of
Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, for colour enhancement and image
restoration technology company da Vinci Systems.
Based in Singapore, Chamberlain will head up a team that includes
two sales engineers, an admin person and seven R&D software
engineers.
According to Chamberlain, "Asia is easily the fastest growing
region in the world for da Vinci with sales and enquiries particularly
strong in Japan, China and India."

Gardner CEO of AAV
The Chairman of AAV Limited, Bob Mansfield, has today that Michael
Gardner has accepted the position of CEO of AAV Limited effective
1 March 2005.
In making the announcement, Mr Mansfield said that Michael will
succeed Ted Gregory as CEO and will also be appointed an executive
director of the Company.
"Michael's career has been based around the leadership, service
and provision of high level sales and marketing of IT related solutions
and services throughout the UK, USA and Australia", said Mr
Mansfield.
"In 1989 he was founder and CEO of CI Pty Ltd; a business that
was subsequently acquired by Computershare. Michael went on to become
entrenched in Computershare's global business and in May 2002 returned
to Australia and was appointed Managing Director of Computershare
Investor Services. Since leaving Computershare in January 2003,
he has been on sabbatical leave.
"Michael has extensive experience in conducting successful
turn arounds, M&As, change and major growth requirements within
various enterprises globally. It is a pleasure to welcome Michael
to the position of CEO and I am confident he will provide the necessary
leadership to continue the development and growth of the AAV Group",

As announced on 17 August 2004, Ted Gregory will be stepping down
as CEO at the end of February 2005 after thirty years with AAV;
twenty years as CEO. Ted will remain as a non executive Director
of AAV. Michael commences with the AAV Group on Monday 10 January
2005 and will work closely with Ted Gregory until Ted's retirement.

that his wealth of knowledge and experience will not be lost to
the Group", said Mr Mansfield.
STAR Appoints Welch for Government Affairs
Hong Kong-based STAR has announced the appointment of Joe Welch
to the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Government Affairs.
Welch will be responsible for government and regulatory affairs
and overseeing public policy issues related to STAR's operations.
Welch reports to Chief Executive Officer Michelle Guthrie.
Welch was previously the Regional Director of Government and Regulatory
Affairs for MCI Asia Pacific with responsibility for the company's
operations in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Mainland China, Australia,
Singapore, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
Prior to joining MCI in 2000, Welch served as Telecommunications
Business Consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton, working in its
Thai, Indonesian and Singapore offices. Welch also worked closely
with key Malaysian policy makers to develop plans for the regulation
of the country's telecom and media sectors.
Educated in the US, Welch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English
and Political Science from Amherst College in Massachusetts and
a law degree from Santa Clara University, California. He is a member
of the bar in Maryland, US.
Cintel Taps Mak for Asia-Pac
Cintel have appointed KK Mak to head their new Asia Pacific operation,
with a new office based in Hong Kong. The new office strengthens
Cintel’s existing presence by providing dedicated sales and
customer support for the region.
According to Adam Welsh, Managing Director at Cintel, “Working
in conjunction with Cintel’s existing Asia Pacific representatives,
KK will be aiming to ensure post-production houses and facilities
are kept abreast of all Cintel technological advances in order that
they will be able to make informed decisions when investing in film
scanning and image manipulation equipment. The positioning of a
Cintel office in the region will also be able to keep users of Cintel
technology apprised of the many product enhancements and upgrades.”
“The service to our existing customers will be vastly improved”,
explained Welsh. “By having a Cintel office housing spares
in the Asia Pacific region our customers will have direct access
to service engineers when they need it and will be guaranteed faster
response times. The opening of the Asia Pacific office guarantees
that we will be able to offer a round-the-clock service to all customers,
no matter where in the world they are located."
KK Mak, a highly respected and well known figure in Asia’s
post-production industry, was a prominent member of the Strand Lighting
sales team, later Managing Director, working alongside Cintel for
over 20 years. A graduate of the University of London, KK brings
extensive knowledge of Cintel technology and an in-depth appreciation
of the post production industry within the region.

of the company," said Mak. "All markets in the Asia Pacific
region are rapidly evolving and are now looking to embrace DI. Cintel

Kurz Returns to Europe
After nearly three years in Asia, Alexander Kurz has left Tektronix
Hong Kong to move back to Austria and join a new start-up company
called Mediornet as Sales Manager.
According to Kurz, "It has been a great experience and a real
pleasure to collaborate with all of you in a variety of tasks. Thank
you all for your friendship and support in the last three years.
"I wish you happiness, health and success for your future …
and am looking forward to meeting some of you again at IBC &
NAB or somewhere else in this small world. I plan to visit this
region of the world as part of my new job as well – but it
may take a while before I can make it back here."
Griffin for Hyro
Hyro Australia has appointed Garet Griffin as its new Product
Manager for Wireless and Mobile Services. Recruited as part of a
recent move to expand the existing Hyro offerings across premium
SMS, i- Mode, WAP and rich content solutions, Garet brings over
14 years experience from the database marketing, e-commerce, CRM
and mobile marketing fields, both in Australia and the US.
Before joining Hyro, Garet served as Director Technology & CRM
for BraveSky Mobile Marketing, playing an instrumental role in the
development and implementation of the Skybay opt-in SMS service
pilot with supporters Visa, Telstra and NAB, as well as other mobile
marketing and transactional offerings.
The span of Garet’s career has included work for Microsoft,
HSBC, MasterCard International, Catholic Education Commission, GlaxoSmithKline
and UKTV.
Working with the Hyro wireless specialist team, Garet will be spearheading
one of Australia’s first fully integrated end-to-end mobile
service solutions, with coverage across premium SMS, mobile internet
and rich content delivery. Since joining Hyro, Garet has already
helped define holistic mobile service strategies for clients such
as NRMA. Network Ten Motorsport, and the Weather Channel.
