Director of Quantel Australia. In his new role, Julien will assume
executive responsibility for all aspects of Quantel's operations
in Australia and New Zealand.
"The Australian and New Zealand markets are poised for a period
of growth," said James. "The move to high definition broadcasting
in Australia in particular is causing post houses and broadcasters
to look carefully at their business models. We are beginning to
see a move towards embracing new technologies that allow them to
take advantage of these opportunities from a realistic cost base
in the light of the depressed state of the economy here and worldwide.
Our generationQ range is ideally suited to meeting these needs,
and I'm looking forward to helping our customers take full advantage
of the considerable potential that exists."
Quantel Executive Chairman, Richard Taylor, said, "Julien has made
a major contribution to our business in Australia over a number
of years. His appointment reflects the importance of the Australian

of Quantel Southeast Asia."
An engineer by training, Julien James entered the broadcast industry
in 1980 with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He joined

Australia.
Eric Masters, Director of Quantel's Asia Pacific subsidiary, which
has overall control of all the company's operations in the region,

fully on developing the considerable potential elsewhere in the
region, particularly China."
