GERRY BROOKS
Immediate Past Chair/International Governor

Gerry started in commercial TV in the UK. He emigrated to Australia in 1968 and has worked for Channel Nine Network; Channel 10 Network; was a founding director of Quinto, an equipment supply company; has worked for several years in Post-Production and worked for 10 years in Video Duplication from 1981 to 1990.

He has held his current position as Training and New Technology Manager with Rexel Australia Video Systems for 12 years (formerly GEC Video Systems) supporting Panasonic Broadcast equipment as well as Accom and Leitch Broadcast Products within the TV and Film Industry.

Gerry has been a member of SMPTE since the early '80s and has been on the Board of Managers since 1990. He has served as Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman of the Australia Section, and is currently International Governor or the Asia/Australia Region. As such he has been actively representing the Australian Section at the Board of Governors' Meetings. The Australian Section is well regarded at HQ. We consistently outperform other Sections in terms of membership recruitment. Liaison with the Board of Governors is necessary to maintain dialogue and HQ support for overseas Sections.
