> ADIMEX to Give Away Software at SMPTE03
Adimex, one of Australia's leading specialist production system
suppliers, will be giving away over $7,700 worth of software prizes
at this year's SMPTE exhibition. Visitors to the Adimex stand (H35)
will have the opportunity to enter the draw to win three prizes.

> Amber Broadcast Hosts Overseas Experts
Amber Broadcast has announced it will play host to three overseas
product experts at this year's SMPTE.
Mr Gianluca Baccalini from Cte International will update you on
all the latest changes and enhancements for digital video broadcast
transmitters, translators and gap fillers. In addition to this,
Cte also represent a range of FM transmitters and traditional analogue
transmitters and translators. On display will be the DVB-T 50U transmitter.
Attending this year from Vislink will be Mr David Thomas, Regional
Sales Manager. This is the new name for the bringing together of
Microwave Radio Communications (MRC), Advent Communications and
Continental Microwave (CML). Between the 3 groups, they cover a
range of satellite and terrestrial microwave systems for broadcast
and data communications. The particular emphasis on the show will
be satellite news gathering (SNG) and COFDM terrestrial microwave
systems for ENG use.
Mr Luc Doneux from EVS Asia Pacific will display EVS' range of Live
Slow Motion products for both Super Motion and Standard Motion with
the introduction of the networking capabilities (Sportsnet) and
2 additional products being Sports Server and Xfile. Also on display
will be a full line of DVB-T compliant products for delay purposes
and local insertion capabilities. Also on display will be Clean
Edit and Air Box which are used for live editing and for enhanced

> APPLE TO LAUNCH FINAL CUT PRO 4
Apple will be launching version 4 of its Final Cut Pro editing software
on Monday 30 June, 2003, in the Grand Harbour Ballroom, Star City,

> Italian Expertise
A.R.F.C. Pty Ltd on stand B14 is proud to announce that REMO
NANNETTI from RVR Elettronica of Italy will be on hand to demonstrate
and talk about their latest equipment. Also present will be STEVE
BRINE from Test and Measurement Australia.
ABE Elettronica of Italy have released their REAL TIME MPEG-2 Encoder
and Modulator in a single package. The DEM1000 series can accommodate
up to four encoders and a multiplexer with a teletext feature.
> AUSTRALIAN TEL-TEC CLAIMS ITS PATCH
Australian Tel-Tec is showing the new Pro Patch Programmable Bantam
modular patching system offering unprecedented flexibility in a
convenient, space-saving size and light weight design. The new Pro
Patch Programmable Bantam is a WECO standard bantam system in a
high-density, 2 x 48, one-rack space panel. The modular design allows
individual front jack access for circuit and ground configurations
without having to take the entire panel off-line or removing it
from the rack. Panels are available in a space saving 1 rack unit,
with large 0.411-inch designation strips. Using a unique escutcheon
kit, the 1 rack unit can be converted into a 1.5 rack unit with

> AVID UNIVERSITY IN SESSION
SMPTE 2003 will see a new semester of 'Avid University'. The University's
sessions will focus on the Xpress DV editing system, ie editing
on the Avid Xpress non-linear interface. Xpress DV will run on the
LANshare shared storage system, allowing for a demonstration of
Avid's 'collaborative workflow' capabilities. Sessions will run
for 45 minutes each and will conducted by an Avid trainer. Those
who would like to attend an Avid University class should register
at Avid's Stand G02 at the front desk.

> Broadcast Workshop in the Field with Nagra
The NAGRA V two channel audio recorder is designed as the successor
to the NAGRA IVS-TC and a replacement for R-DAT. The NAGRA V is
a digital linear recorder based on computer technology for the storage
medium. It is available with either a removable hard disk cartridge
or a removable hard drive and is intended for use as a flexible
and convenient location recorder capable of over the shoulder operation.

> DIGISTOR - LEADER AT THE CUTTING EDGE
This SMPTE 2003 the DIGISTOR crew will be showing off multiple High
Definition (HD) Pinnacle Cinewave 4/Final Cut Pro 4 systems in a
Storage Area Network (SAN). The HD systems will be able to simultaneously
access and play the same media files from the SAN. We believe this
may be the first High Definition SAN in the world! There will also
be Shake, SANshare (ethernet Storage Area Nework storage solutions),
giveaways of Pinnacle Commotion Pro licenses, a 30GB Firewire pocket
sized HDD, memory card readers and DIGISTOR packs. Plus all of DIGISTOR’s
storage solutions on display.

> Brilliant Aerial Shots from Gyrovision
Those eye-popping "Wow!" shots never looked better than filmed from
Gyrovision's gyro-stabilised helicopter camera mounts just hundreds
of feet above the action.

or a police drama car chase to a headline news incident or a major

With discWelder STEEL, the user can import all Linear PCM formats
supported in the DVD-A specification, including non-encoded / uncompressed

> ROSS SWITCHES ON AT SMPTE
At Booth C37, Ross Video will be exhibiting a variety of new
products, that were previously introduced at NAB 03, including the
2003 Edition of the popular Synergy digital production switcher
line, Squeeze & Tease Warp 3D DVE option for Synergy switchers,
as well as new offerings in the RossGear Terminal Equipment and
GearLite Compact Terminal Equipment lines. The Synergy 2003 Edition
switchers see the addition of mnemonic displays, Squeeze & Tease
Warp, significantly enhanced integration and control capabilities
as well as updated control panels. Squeeze & Tease WARP is the latest
in built-in switcher digital effects from Ross Video available for
the Synergy 100, 1, 2, 3 & 4. S&T WARP is a dual channel, 10-bit,
fully loaded 3D DVE. Features include new WARP effects such as page

Sony Australia has announced a partnership with Wizard Information
Services and MediaWare Solutions offering a scalable solution for
mass digitisation and audio-visual archiving. Providing a complete
end-to-end digital asset management system, the initiative utilises
the latest Sony S-AIT Petasite S Series hardware and Sony PetaServe
data storage system with the MAVIS media asset management software
developed by Wizard, with ScreenSound Australia, and MediaWare's
MPEG analysis and transcoding technology to produce an integrated

> TECHNICAL AUDIO GROUP AIRS EUPHONIX TO THE MAX
The TAG stand (D12) will feature Euphonix' s Max Air broadcast console.
TVM, Ireland's leading outside broadcast facility company has had

rating has been sky high while broadcasting some of Europe's most

Techtel has announced immediate availability of Liquid chrome and
the Australian release at SMPTE on stand D26. This groundbreaking
system will reshape professional post production by offering unprecedented

are now being shipping out of the gate with dual 2.8GHz processors
